What kind of goose is this?
« on: August 02, 2017, 04:55:42 PM »
Sorry for the crappy photo.

This is an all white goose, no black anywhere. It has orange feet and bill.

It's hanging out with a group of Canadas. They fly to this pond every afternoon after spending the day feeding somewhere else. They've only been around for a couple weeks. I didn't see this group all winter.

I'd guess some domestic breed gone rouge. See that with ducks quite a bit.
Charlie Kirk didn't speak hate, they hated what he said. Don't get it twisted.

That is the Great White Goose. Don't shoot it. Many years bad juju. It only appears in order to forecast prosperity and plentiful harvests of crops and game for this year.

Look up Emden Goose. They area a domestic breed. So I would assume someones pet who ran away. I have a picture of a canada domestic cross that showed up in Spokane this spring, so they will breed with wild geese.

Well, would it be legal to shoot?

Or even, would it be a public service to shoot it so it doesn't breed with a wild goose?

I believe you can shoot it just like you can shoot any other goose. People pets get shot all the time. I have seen people shoot shell ducks, mandarin ducks, and farm ducks in this state so I don't see why it would be any different. I met a guy once on a boat launch who was so excited about his "hybrid" that he shot and he didn't take it very well when I informed him it was someone pet haha.
