Need new shocks
« on: October 05, 2017, 12:39:03 AM »
So it’s time for new shocks on my Chevy 2500hd. I need all four. From October to February it carries my camper most of the time, and it’s heavy- about 10,500 pounds. It sees rough roads like colockum rd and travels the interstates to California and North Dakota. Next year I’m working on digging up the scratch for Texas. I’ve always used rancho shocks and been happy, but it’s a good step up in price to get the rs-9000 I need for the weight. They’re a little over $100 a piece. The price tag is probably comparable to bilsteins, so I’m wondering what people think of bilstein shocks on a hd pickup with a heavy load traveling rough roads and covering 3,500-5,000 mile hunting road trips?

The Bilstiens are decent shocks. But in your situation I would go with the Rancho 9000. Spendy but worth it. Once in awhile you can find some petty good deals on them.

Running Bilsteins on my highway truck, Rancho 9000 with remote control on my Offroad truck. Both good.   I would lean towards the adjustable rancho’s for your application.

I had Rancho's on my F350. Daily drove it , pulled a car trailer and Jeep or a 24' Travel trailer. One started to leak so I thought I'd try out the Bilstein 5100's since I have them on my Jeep and love how they ride. IMO the 5100's ride smoother than the Rancho's did. Both are great shocks though.

The new/used truck I recently got, Dodge cummins, has the bilsteins and wow are they so much better than other shocks(Rancho and Schwabby premium crap) I ran on my other Dodge.  I wasn't a supporter due to price but now I am.
MAGA!  Again..
