Bob, what's the purpose of the restriction? They trying to prevent hernias or what? It may sound like a stupid question, but my 45" 6.5mm Grendel is 21 lbs and a perfect fixed position big game rifle. What's the thinking behind this?

I don't know that's its necessarily to discourage but it is there to limit the equipment of long range gear such as piano man is describing.  or anti aircraft guns, this is Idaho after all and there's some serious equipment in some of these guys safes.

I've never seen a reason articulated. I can only speculate that from an ethical perspective, allowing hunters to use 30+ pound rifles like a Barrett 50 caliber would be consider something other than "fair chase".

I guess that makes sense, in a very arbitrary sort of way. I mean there are plenty of 1K yard guns that weigh well under 16 lbs nowadays. Mine is only as accurate as the old fart's eyes who shoots it, so about 300 yards max.

The .950 JDJ is so powerful that a shooter that fires the mighty rifle will experience just as much kick as firing ten .30-6 rifles at the same time.

SSK Industries has created only three rifles that can fire a .950 caliber round. The prototype seen in the YouTube video weighs just 50 pounds, the lightest of the three guns. The other two rifles weigh approximately 110 pounds each.
