Entiat - Slide Ridge, few deer and hunters
« on: October 17, 2017, 02:14:18 PM »
Been up in Entiat/Slide Ridge and it is slower than it has ever been since I have been hunting here.  Not only are we not seeing any deer a lot of the camps are already empty.  Wind is blowing about 50mph steady right now...

Any thoughts on how to hunt when the wind is blowing like a hurricane?  :dunno:

blowing like crazy down in town too but forecast is calming this afternoon and evening. Just walk with your binos and be ready for tomorrow morning. Good luck

If you were in 50 mph wind, where would you be? I would think I'd be on the lee side of slope, with big timber overhead and brush below for thermal cover on a southern aspect for increased warmth. I'm no deer though!

I would take the advice of those who vacated already.  Not trying to be negative, but the valleys deer population is way down. I would look to another area while there's  still time.  :twocents:

:yeah: if there are deer in there, during a stiff wind, this is where they’ll be. I love hunting in a deafening wind. :twocents:
Just tend your own and live.

Yea figures this was year I drew !   :chuckle:  Scouted two weeks ago and saw very little.  Hoping there is something left to migrate but wondering from where - there are almost no deer in the Bumping/Nile area maybe further north has better luck.

last time i drew entiat it was blowing almost 70mph.  We hunted way down low to get out of it and got into a few bucks. When we got back to camp up on a ridge it was litteraly destroyed everything was in a giant ball pushed up against the trailer. We packed and left.  Id hunt low as yo can get

There are going to be some camps up there that will have a hard time getting everything out.
4500' elevation has at least 12" right now, prolly "feet" up higher.
