Public Duck Hunting
« on: October 18, 2017, 05:52:19 PM »
Looking for some ideas on some walk in public spots in North Snohomish County or Skagit County. In the past I have hunted the fields there between stanwood and camano island and have also hunted the samish unit. Are there any other public ones that are worth checking out? I'd like to get my 17yr old brother out this year with me. Thanks in advance!

Not Northern Snohomish, but check out Crescent Lake in Monroe and Stillwater in Duvall. When I hunted pheasants there, used to see some ducks too, especially in Crescent Lake. Cherry Valley has some too, but I saw more at the other ones.

I know of those spots but have never ventured that way to hunt it. Might make a trip there also thanks!

Spencer Island is a possibility as well. Last I checked, it's best if you have some sort of flotation (tube, pontoon, kayak) is best.

Thanks. I tried there years ago and didn't enjoy it. The parking spot then was a long hoof to the entrance and then getting out to a spot was a nightmare, tide was out so it was beyond mucky and didn't have luck. But thank you!

The North Fork Skagit access can be good if the weather/tide cooperate.  There are lots of quality hunt units out there.  You can find them on line.

I won't argue that.  I used to hunt there before the dike broke. Ever since, it's not safe without some kind of boat.   :twocents:
I live close enough to hear shooting most weekends at first light, pretty quiet afterwards.
