My best muzzy buck
«
on:
October 20, 2017, 05:26:25 PM »
I got on this buck opening weekend and after a 500 yard stak, I got into position. Waiting for it to feed past me, gave me a few moments to catch my nerves and breath. Then at 80 yards he stopped broadside and I shot. However I immediately knew it was over because my cap went off but it didn’t ignite the powder. As I watched the Buck trot off over the hillside my heart sank. I was filled with all kinds of feelings that I was trying to process. However the story ends well because the second weekend he was back his feeding spot. After spotting the buck bedded down in the CRP grass I made a stock within 80 yards which included an extensive belly crawl to get redemption with a one shot clean kill.

Does not look fun crawling through that grass. Good job on keeping after him!

Great buck! I've been there with the muzzy misfire, glad you were able to get it done. Congratulations!

Nice work! Way to push past the disappointment; I hardly know any muzzy hunters that haven't had a misfire, hangfire, or other ignition mishap...
