I grunted in a 4x4 a week ago last Friday.  Passed on him...but if I see him again he's toast.  :)

Just got home from Idaho this afternoon. No luck on the rattling for us but several guys in our group were able to rattle in a few smaller bucks they passed on but no bruisers. I was able to connect on a nice 3 point that came in looking about 15 min or so after a series of doe bleats. Not sure if he actually came to the call or just happened to be passing thru. He was definately cruising for does though

Yes. After 9 days of hunting I filled my tag in the last hours with a nice little 2 pt. for meat. I passed up around 20 bucks, a couple in the 120"-130"range and another in the 140" range. Looking for 160+ so I was more than happy to pass up those mid sized bucks and take the little guy. I'll have to admit it was easier to pass on those bucks having already killed a booner blacktail in October.  :chuckle:

I’ll be at it tomorrow morning, evening and all day Thursday. Looking for the first trophy buck, buck or doe that comes in!!

I really didn't get the season that I had envisioned.  I had some access issues with land I had scouted and hunted in the past, and work has been too busy for me to get out for a full day at any one point.  I have to get out to one of my field sites in Idaho on Thursday morning, and I will be bringing the grunt call, antlers, and rifle for when the work is done!  I hope the cold weather will get them moving again.  The deer were locked down during Thanksgiving week- nothing moving in my area.

Good luck, those of you with unfilled tags!

I've actually seen very little rut activity this year.  Could just be since it's my first year back that I have not adjusted to minor changes back out here yet.  I've relied too much on past experiences and was not able to put in nearly as much scouting time as I usually do and it is showing up in my results this year.  Will have to do a much better job next year.

Where i was in Idaho there wasnt really a major rut activity, it was more of a slow gradual process which made it harder to notice. Would see a buck with nose up a does butt and a few hours later have a buck come in that could care less that there were does in the cut
