Hornady interlock
« on: November 13, 2017, 07:25:45 PM »
Was really happy with this bullet this year. Shot a small buck today quatering very hard away from me at about 100 yards it punched though a lot of deer messed up the lungs and dropped the deer where it stood found the bullet on the front shoulder right by the hide it penetrated about 24" inches. I lost almost nothing from blood shot small hole in and still dropped him. This was from a tikka superlight stainless 7mm 08 with vortex scope my wife used the same load to kill her deer with also great results. Great bullet for the price.

I use a lot of interlock bullets in reloading, but I'm hoping that interbond makes a come back. They do a great job on deer haven't gone out yet but I've got interlock 223 to use inn some coyotes.

Hornaday Interlocks are awesome bullets. Killed my first elk and a lot of deer with a 150gr interlock from my 30-06, Got my buck this year with a 100gr interlock from the .243win. Always seem to mushroom out nicely. I find most of the bullets on the opposite side just under the hide. I also like the Nosler Accubond, but have put the more meat in the freezer using an Interlock over the years mostly cause I use it so much.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Without question the interlock is the most underrated big game bullet out there. Literally almost half price of some of media darlings.  Typically they are relatively easy to get accurate for the reloader.

I was curious so I pulled out the tools. I got 107.6 grains this is from a 139 grain bullet making 77.4% weight retention. And .567 expansion that is 1.99x from a 7mm 08. At its widest point one petal stuck out I got .798 that is 2.8x but that was just one petal.

I agree.  Tried more than 10 different bullets thru my 6.5 Creedmoor, and the 129 grain Hornady was by far the most accurate.  Got a 11 pt Whitetail at 75 yards thru the near shoulder, shredded the heart, and exited far ribcage.  Minimal meat loss, except for the heart...
