Truck Cap Recommendations

Hey all,

I'm leaning towards getting a LEER truck cap at some point in the near future, but wanted to see what opinions were out there about the best options. Looking for standard-height cap, don't need anything too fancy. Thanks for thoughts.

I'm a snugtop guy but leer would be my second choice.

I have had 2 Range Riders out of BC and have been happy with them.  One on a dodge and one on a Chevy.  Very good fit...either ever leaked.

Had a few leers they are good as any, had a few others too. They all leak after while. Doors start to rattle, etc.

I put a Leer on my pickup that last spring. It's cab height, siding windows & a drop down slider in front. I love it so far. The led light in the back is bright enough to light up the whole thing. I use it for carrying my tools around, hunting equipment, & I have a bed back there that I sleep on when traveling.  No complaints so far.

my take on Leer Canopies and canopies in general, I guess.  I have a cab height Leer on my 2010 Taco.  1) the latch in the center sucks.  it is a low profile plastic latch with a keyhole in the middle covered by a flap.  Works fine, except when it freezes to the glass.  This happens every time I go to E. Wa in the winter.  I have to carry a bottle of alcohol in the cab so I don't get locked out.  2) sliding windows suck.  They require you to climb in the back of the truck on your knees to open the windows.  Not very accessible when the truck is packed.  I open them pretty much only to give ventilation to the dogs if they are riding back there.  The pop-out style would have been a better choice, but more $$. And you can reach them from outside the truck. Worth it in my opinion.  3) interior light.  Mine burned out at least once a year.  This was not an LED, but an incandescent lamp.  I have since replaced it with LED strip around the perimeter near the ceiling of the canopy and now works great.
Color matching is great, and it looks good, but I would look to avoid that latch at all costs and go with the pop out windows.

Leer carries various styles of latches, and they are interchangeable.  I replaced my push button latch with a T handle in about 20 minutes.  The push button style also freezes and sticks.

I have a Snugtop. Bought it used on Craiglist for $500.  It matches my charcoal grey truck perfectly.  I did have to put new weather stripping on 1 window and replace the struts, but all that set me back only $70.

Leer all the way.  Never had a drop of water in my truck with Leer and never had to go back for problems with it.  See links above re: SnugTop in general & Kanopy Kingdom in particular
