Hey Bucklucky, sometimes those babies are jsut too far from the road.  ;)   I hear what you are saying though, this "taxidermist" loves when he finds where the *censored* slips with the ole blade when caping. ;)

Ya Boneaddict,
If I were twice that distance I would have thought about caping it out in the field but then I would run the risk of making a mistake. I prefer to take my time at home weather and temp permitting of coarse ... I have learned the hard way in the past loosing some along the way but hey I have it down now and I think I did a good job on this one with no holes where they are not supposed to be but I do leave the ears and lips for my guy though I don't even want to go there!

I did pretty good on mine in the field this time.  It wasn't much fun, but after a couple of moose, elk seem to be pretty easy.  I have one small oops when I was splitting his dehydrated salted lips.

Ooohhh the lips bummer that's why I just stay away from those and the ears as well. I just roll up the nose and the ears inside the cape and freeze it then send it out ... keeps me out of trouble with my Taxidermist!
