Late Fall in E. Washington
« on: November 20, 2017, 07:45:08 PM »
I was wondering if anyone could share some public land that has some turkey activity still. The place I hunted for general fall has been rained the last few times I've been out including today. I would love to get a bird for thanksgiving, but it's supposed to be steady rain here again tomorrow and these birds disappear.

Are they still active off 20 in Colville? Are there any other places within an hour or two of Spokane that has good turkey activity?

Thanks in advance

I saw lots of turkeys when I was out and about around Colville and Kettle last week.  I wasnt paying much attention to them.   They are out even in the rain.  I’m not going to give any locales, but I was only on public.   It will be wet through Thanksgiving by the looks of it.   Goodluck

Absolutely would not expect an exact location, but general is definitely good enough. I'm hunting private right outside Medical Lake and these birds don't act right. They're like pets. They run away when called and hide when it rains.

Big hatch, most survived.  More turkeys than pheasants around Spokane

Take an early morning ride from Davenport to Kettle Falls and your biggest problem will be to not hit one with your car. Good hatch and good survival thus far.

Lots on private. I was looking around this last weekend and saw the standard flocks in private fields. If you are set on a bird or are taking a kid I'd go knock on a door of someone who is tired of them. I am debating taking my 9 year old so he can find a bird after Thanksgiving. If you've got more time to scout then then keep driving and you'll find them on public.

Over the years folks have came and asked me. I send them up the road to a neighbor. Last guy I told him to go ask. If he was successful to come back and I would show him how to clean it. About 20 minutes later he came wandering back down the drive.   :dunno:  He said that the land owner told him yes he could shoot turkies, But he would have to shoot all of them.  :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: This last weekend I had about 30+ wandering around the back of the pasture.

That's all I got!!!

I've heard that those birds will congregate where the fertilizer piles are deep.  :fire.:
