40D Arrived!

My Canon 40D arrived today.  I'll post some pictures when I figure out how to use this thing.  This is my first dslr, so give me a little time.  It came with the 17-85 IS lens.  Any thoughts on this lens?  I plan on purchasing a good telephoto lens in the future.  Any suggestions?  I will use it for photos of my son as he grows (sports, playing, etc.) and I would like to be able to get some good wildlife photos.  Any info would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I heard the 17-85 is a decent lens but not as sharp as the 17-55.  Let us know what you think and post a few images when you get some good ones.
