starkey experimental forest

I got to see this place and the bulls that live there.  Found this video, just confirms what we all know but it's more scientific than the old camp fire talk  :chuckle:

Starkey and desolation could be amazing units if Oregon would manage correctly.   Some of the best habitat for elk I've ever seen.  Looks exactly like the video throughout the entire unit.  Fun place to hunt for sure.

Ive been thinking of that unit- I have 15 points in oregon for elk and 13 for deer. Just trying to put it all together and spend them-- before the wolves eat everything up. Cool vid - thanks

I have drawn 3 cow tags in the experimental station, its a great hunt.  Just because they are behind a fence don't think that it is a given on killing one, you better have a strong back also because you can not drive off of any of the main roads.  Every year I tagged out and we had to pack 2 of them for a few miles.  Great hunt but be prepared to work for it.
