NR crabbing Yakuta Alaska
« on: January 23, 2018, 08:06:42 AM »
My wife and I are going to Yakutat in August and I have been emailing them with questions. One of the questions was if they rent crab pots? The lady told me that Non Residents aren't allowed to crab in Alaska. Is this true?

I tried calling ADFG and couldn't get ahold of anyone, but I am guessing that the earthquake and tsunami warning up there shut down all government buildings on the coast.

I talked to ADFG and they told me that crabbing is legal for non residents in SE Alaska. The lady just didn't know what she was was talking about. I never argued with her, I just asked her if residents were able to rent crab pots from her. She hasn't replied back yet, and I'm guessing that she's digging a little deeper into the rule book. It's weird that she doesn't know it's legal.
