I just got some Bobtail Quail from Birdguy on Saturday, abd some chuckers from Old Dog 2 weeks ago, but have not found any pigions yet. I even looked on craigslist for them. No luck.

I have pigeons but do not raise a lot. However, if folks really want them and will follow through with buying them I can raise lots. It just sucks to have people who say they want them until you put all the food into them just to have them say I do not need them anymore :dunno:. Feed is expensive these days and anyone who has animals knows that. I can not raise them for free and thus can not give them away. If you are serious and need them PM me and we can make some arrangements.

Birdguy - how long does it take to raise a pigeon?  Maybe we could prepay for them to cover your costs - yes feed is really expensive.

shouldn't be more than $4 each for a pigeon.

Hey guys. I am in Burlington and with a weeks notice I can get you some feral pigeons. I trap them for dog training but I let some of them go if I catch to many at a time. I can let them go and recatch them later sometimes. They home pretty well back to where I catch them. $4 a bird would be worth my time and feed needed to catch them. Let me know if your interested. You would have to pick them up within a couple of days though.

For me, the distance of travel would be an issue.
I am in Tacoma, and your pretty far north for me to travel.

Do you come to the south sound at all?

Only if I have to. I have a job in Mill Creek going on that I will have to go look at next week. Thats as far south as I see myself going anytime soon.

I'm in Tacoma as well.  I have a trap, but need a place to put it.  If anyone has a spot that gets a lot of nuisance birds, let me know.  I've tried asking Tacoma Metro parks, but they've been a pain.  They actually said that trapping of any kind is illegal in this state. Of course, I can't get WDFW to call the city and explain that trapping pigeons is perfectly legal.

I need some pigeons, as well. However, I live just South of Spokane Valley. Can anyone help me out?

Pigeon traps are easy to make. The hard part is making the door so that they do not get back out. Check out this one at http://www.gundogsupply.com/-3728-.html. By just looking at it I think I could make it. All you would need is the wire, hogrings and pliers to apply them which you could buy at any feedstore. Lately I have seen more pigeons in places where they never used to be. We have whole flocks out in Graham that are feral.

When I was originally training my boy I went down to the Tacoma water front with a salmon net and some bird seed. I was able to get three before some guy started questioning my motives. Of course in trying to get the third one in and talk to him one got away. I got that pair and then some more and the next thing you know I had about 30 of them. They get expensive to feed and take care of. If you have a place to keep them I would just catch them, use them to train, and let them fly off.

I have never tried it, but I heard if you go at night to old barns, buildings, or under freeway overpasses that you can blind them with a flashlight. Use a smelt dipping net and you can knock them out of the rafters. Keep the flashlight on them and they won't know which way to go and flip the net on them. Make sure you have a dog kennel or a bird bag to put them in. Get a couple buddies and it sounds like it would be a fun night.
