Potential Mule Deer Drop Camps

After two years of western WA blacktail hunting, I'm looking to experience the high hunting adventures. I'm trying to plan out a September high buck hunt through a guided drop camp in a wilderness area. I was researching the Pasayten Wilderness and potential guides. Any ideas or suggestions for this type of hunt? I'm open to other wilderness areas as well. Thoughts? Advice? Suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Talk to Bruce at Iciclecreek outfitters he does drop camps we've hunted with him a couple times didn't do drop camps with them but they are a great outfit

If you want to hunt the Pasayten- Steve Darwood of Cascade Wilderness Outfitters. We did a drop camp with him in 2005, we both had opportunities at good bucks, and took one 4x4 buck out of there. We were 15 miles in so that's not something I'd be able to do without the horseback ride in and out.

Early winters outfitters does drop camps in the paysaten wilderness.  Aaron also owns North cascade safaris.  I would suggest getting a hold of him sooner then later if your interested in possibly using him.  Fyi Aaron can be a little rough around the edges but has awsome wranglers and stock.  Feel free to pm if you want more info as I used him last year.  I went with my buddy who's packed in with Aaron for over 10 years.

I’d go with steve Darwood over Aaron, there have been a couple less than ideal reports with early winters posted on here over the years.

Dale at Icicle outfitters is the guy to talk to. Great guy know him personally. The thing you must do first is decide where you want to hunt. Outfitters are only able to do drop hunts in the areas they have permits for i.e. Dale cant provide you a drop camp in the Pasayten.

I've used Aaron and loved my experience. I am planning on going back up when my boys are a little bit older. He can be rough around the edges but the guy has a ton of knowledge and experience and is actually incredibly nice. my folks live in Mazama and we typically try to stop in and say hi to Aaron and his wife Judy almost everh trip. Not sure what the bad experiences are but I highly recommend him!

It’s my understanding they each have areas they pack to so if I’m correct if you know where you want packed into you may be limited to who ever services that area. Darwood is a great guy.
