We went to the one on the 28th, took two people who had never hunted before and by the end of it they had learned a good amount..If your looking to get into turkey hunting its worth the drive down..plus you always need some reason to go to Cabelas

Any more info on the calling contest. Is it a contest for pros? I'm just asking because I've never competed before and don't want to go get my ass kicked in front of a bunch of pros.

I read the announcement tonight at Cabelas but don't recall what it said about the contest.  For some reason I thought it was a youth contest.   :dunno:  The Gig Harbor guys can answer it though.

I recommend going because Al Prante and the rest of the guys do a great job!

THe calling contest is open to any and everybody, but I dont think there will be any "Pros" there. I know there are a lot of good callers in the state who might not think they can compete in a contest, but you'd be very surprised how well you can compare to others.  You never know, you might just walk away with a prize.
There are two contests, one for youth with three different calls. THe other is for adults, and it will be with five types of calls. The judges are going to be guys from the Gig Harbor NWTF chapter, and they will be hidden inside a tent during the judging.

I'm not privy to the procedings of a contest? I've watched them before, but do you have to use five different calls or is that an option.
