49 Degrees north GMU 117
« on: March 15, 2018, 06:03:32 PM »
Drew a spring bear tag in 117. Has anybody got any info on the unit, as I have never been there. Good public access? National forest lands.
Any info would be much appreciated just to save some time as its a long haul from the wet side.
Thanks guys

A very basic map will answer all your questions you just asked.
Good luck.

Congrats! I dew the same tag. Best I can tell from research so far, snow-melt might be done below 3500ft by end of April. Any residents up that way that can confirm? I've got a bunch of potential areas marked on my map below that elevation that I intend to scout around that time with hunts planned early May, and late May if that one doesn't work out.

Drew this tag also for my first time on a spring bear!!  Planning on going out for Turkeys in the lower areas and also to scout for bears in late April then heading over more serious for bear in mid May. Hope snow melts soon.

Good luck Mitch it might be a little later than normal over there as there is more snow.

Probably wont be able to get within miles of where you're trying to scout.  Fun for turkeys in April but I wouldn't even have bears on the brain until mid-May
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
