What caliber do you use for elk? Poll - - Please vote
« on: March 12, 2009, 07:35:59 AM »
I'm goint to let you vote up to 3 times here. What I want to know is what caliber do you or your friends actually use for elk? If your partners are members here don't vote for them unless they never come around. I don't want to know what the "best" is. I just want to know what calibers are used in your elk camp.

If you guys bow hunt or Muzzy hunt then please vote for the caliber you would use. Thanks.

If I forgot a common caliber let me know.

OK – 35 Whelen, I’ve only killed paper with it but if I ever get a modern elk tag I’m taking that one.

Don't believe in rifles for elk but if I pulled up lame it would have to be .300 Win Mag or 30-06.

Hmm, took Elk with 32 Winchester Special, 30-06 and now have both 300WM and 35 Whelen Ackley Improved (Whackley) to do it with.
A Smith & Wesson Beats Four Aces.

Whatta ya mean I can't have one of each?

What we have here is...Washington Department of NO Fish and WATCHABLE Wildlife.

WDFW is going farther and farther backwards....we need FISH AND GAME back!

That would be a very cool cartridge to have.

In the custom 700 that its in...tis a whacker on the shoulder...the rifle is light with a smaller, scout mounted scope so nice to carry..not so fun to shoot from the bench, esp with 225, 235 and 250 grain bullets.
