You are ignoring this user. Show me the post.

Been doing this for 26 years and a service director for the last 4 yrs. Jackelope is exactly right. Bumper to Bumper warranties do no exist except for new car warranty. There are good service contracts out there and there are horrible ones. Makes sure you know what your buying and negotiate and you will be good.

Sounds like good advice

Great advice. Just looking at options. It will be a 2015 truck or newer. Used though. Can’t afford a brand new one. A newer used one is going to be expensive enough.

Thank You

YES!  Jackelope is 100% correct.  They lie to you.  All is not covered.  Everytime they push warranty and after I read it all I see are "outs" in fine print.  What if I put bigger tires on?  What if I miss an oil change?  What if my mechanic shop isn't pre approved?  Etc.  Lots of outs for a warranty claim refusal.  Many shops hate em too, they can take time and headache to get claim approved or not.
MAGA!  Again..

The last two used vehicles that I purchased I paid $3k for each to have the warranty. I didn't use it on either of them so the Tundra I got last week I declined the warranty. I will take my chances.

IMOP they are worthless scams.  Never would buy one, especially with a custom/not stock auto like big tires, lifts, etc etc. :twocents:

You can still get coverage on modified rigs.  A co-worker bought a 2012 ram 2500 that was lifted, from a dealer.  He had multiple issues with the emissions system, the rear drive shaft, and front wheel bearings, they even covered the driver seat when the leather cracked.  He did have a deductible, not sure how much that was.

Save your money. These warranties are designed to be cash-cows for the provider. Self-insure and save the money. That is a lot beer money poured down the drain on these warranties. Yeah your vehicle might breakdown, it might be covered by the warranty or not and it might not break ever. If it does break just don't take it to a dealer, find a reputable mechanic who will fix the problem for about a third what the repair costs at a dealer. Drink up and enjoy the ride.

The last Used vehicle I bought I pre-approved with BECU, and the loan person at BECU said if I was going to get an extended warrantee, to call them once the price is given for the warrantee. I haggled the dealer from $3000.00 to $2000.00, then called BECU. They gave me the same warrantee the dealer offered for $1500.00.

If they are worth it or not is a whole other argument that totally depends on the vehicle being purchased.

Out of anything you read in this thread, read this. Make sure you know what you’re buying. 99.9% of the time people think they’re getting worked over or screwed by an extended warranty, it’s because they didn’t read what they were buying. They let some F&I guy “tell them” what they were buying. They’re the scam.
Hey... everything’s covered! It’s bumper to bumper warranty. Reality. It’s not bumper to bumper. Ever. And not everything is covered. Ever.

If you’re buying a newer truck from a dealership(a real dealership, not a small corner lot used car dealership) it would be silly to not buy the warranty from them. For example, if you’re buying a Chevy truck from a GM dealer, buy a GMPP service contract. Every manufacturer has a service contract they sell. They’re the best. Always. Don’t screw around with some fly by night aftermarket service contract you found on the internet. I deal with these things day in and day out every single work day of my life.  I know how they work inside and out. Not trying to sound arrogant. It’s just what I do.

Cough cough arrogant cough cough
