Did anyone else notice that this update  came out immediately following  Radsav's mention of shellfish?🤔

New message when you login.

SPECIAL HUNTING PERMIT DRAW UPDATE: If you are a 2018 Special Hunting Permit Applicant, then this message is for you.

Greetings Special Hunting Permit Applicants,

The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) wants to create a better experience for our hunters who applied for 2018 special hunting permits. This year, WDFW wants to provide you information on what to expect during the drawing process, and your ability to view all of your results when we have completed the process.

On June 20, 2018, at approximately 8:30 am, WDFW will initiate the special hunting permit draw process. This process will inactivate your ability to select and see the “Special Hunts” and “Points” links within your account. If you do login to your account at this time, these links will not be available for you to select.

The special hunting permit draw process includes a citizen witness who is a hunter and non-WDFW employee, a WDFW Wildlife Program representative, and staff from WDFW Licensing Division’s Business Technical Unit.  The Business Technical Unit staff will walk the citizen witness through the steps of validating the drawing, and the publish process. While there are 28 drawings that need to be conducted on this date, only a few are selected and validated with the witness during the meeting. Staff must finish the process of validating the remaining drawings before the results can be published.

During the publishing process, WDFW requests you wait a couple of hours after receiving your email confirmation(s) before checking the outcome of your applications. The publish process places a load on the system, potentially causing slowness and increasing the amount of time needed to finalize and publish the results. This is why WDFW is requesting your patience in viewing your results. We will begin to publish the results early on June 21, 2018.

Please do not call our office to find out the results, as this causes the same issue.

Hey no worries.
You have had my money for a month.
No rush.

I WOULD recommend however that you get an insurance certificate from the witness who is a non-WDFW employee. It should have the state of WA named as an additional insured. You never know what could happen and as a taxpayer supporting this show I would hate to get sued.

The Drawing will happen tomorrow and results will be posted on Thursday. Just talked with WDFW and they said to wait as long as you can (not gonna happen) so all the results can get posted and the site does crash from overload.

Yeah, we're all totally going to wait for a couple hours after they post the draw results to check.   :chuckle:

Honestly, if publishing the results puts a big drain on the system, they should do what Colorado did this year and post results about 4am.

I think that was just a coincidence.

They probably had a meeting after this post to decide how to keep applicants from getting too angry:

Didn't they get posted in the middle of the night last year?  I know when Nevada posted their results it was in the middle of the night, I woke up that morning to my phone alerting me to text messages from friends who didn't draw.  I kind of like the middle of the day postings, guys not being able to get through, other guys celebrating, the system crashing, fun times.

"The Business Technical Unit staff will walk the citizen witness through the steps"

This is exactly why they should have proof of insurance from the witness.

Should the witness accidentally trip over a sleeping WDFW employee then we are all gonna be paying more for licensing next year and beyond.

New message when you login.

SPECIAL HUNTING PERMIT DRAW UPDATE: If you are a 2018 Special Hunting Permit Applicant, then this message is for you.

Greetings Special Hunting Permit Applicants,

Please do not call our office to find out the results, as this causes the same issue.
Finally...the kind of transparency and information applicants want to see.

I don't think it was middle of the night. They started coming up around 5:30 or so in the morning. I know because I woke up a few times throughout the night and checked.

I heard from a reliable source (  my next-door neighbor's  gardener's cousin once dated a second cousin(twice removed) of the janitor that night cleans the WDFW offices) that the update is the result of a Russian hack.  The Russians are hoping to crash the Washington economy  by adversely impacting production in the workplace  As we all Pace around tomorrow while continually refreshing our browser's instead of doing our jobs.
