Scouting wenaha wilderness, first timer
« on: May 27, 2018, 08:24:32 PM »
Hello everyone one, I'm new to the fourms.

Would like some insight on the wenaha wilderness this time a year and in to September. Planning on hunting there this fall. I'd like to head out tomorrow and start scouting for bear. Any one else hunt this area recently.

Thanks in advance.

Try using "Search" for Wenaha. There are quite a few threads on it.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

What does everyone use in their 7mm Remington mag?
What are some basic gear I should invest in for a back country hunt. Keep in mind I'm new to bear hunting

Here would be my top 3 "gear" investments:
1) Body - work out like crazy and eat very healthy.  I hunt tough terrain and the buddies I have that hunt Wenaha and know my area say I'm hunting a playground.

2) Boots - get some decent boots and break them in.  Both are important criteria.  Make sure they are good.  Make sure you break them in.

3) Everything else.

What size of a pack would be recommended? I have a 5.11 roush 24 pack that I've used but I know it ain't going to be enough for my bear hunt.

Boy are you in for an exciting trip.

Don’t let these old guy shake you.  They can barely get down the stairs every day.  They wouldn’t know steep if it hit them in the face!

Especially that magnum guy...

The Wenaha is rolling hills.
