Fishing at Deception Pass ?

I have family visiting next week and was planning a camping trip to Deception Pass. I looked at the fishing reg and not much during this time. The reg mentioned surf perch. Has anyone fish surf perch there? I appreciate any tips on shore fishing surf perch or ling in that area. Thanks!

Use to be lots of perch and flounder, a ling occasionally. If to close to the pass the rip is intense though. The park around the corner use to be good with pile worms or clam necks.
