I went on a trip with just diesel additive and it didn't change much. Then a week later I went out of town again with diesel and oil additive and it increased by 3 mpg better. I run it in almost every tank.

Wow that’s a nice increase! Especially with the cost of diesel now

Now I can get on board with that.  Admit cetane boost increases mpg slightly but not really to offset cost much.  Running Amsoil in this cummins and engine does seem more free so to speak.  I think injector lube is most important when talking fuel additives but good fuel filters is where all of your $$ should be being spent if ya don't have it.  Cant stress this enough.  This should be the FIRST thing anyone buys for their diesels! :twocents:

Maybe I missed it, but what fuel filters should a guy consider?

I used to put Racor filters on my duramax but got tired of fighting with the gasket so now I use either Baldwin or AFE.  Any 4 micron filter should treat you well.

I would only use Racor or AC delco on your Duramax or your looking for trouble. As I've stated they are a coalescing filter and your Duramax injectors are very finicky. The only other option I would consider is an aftermarket system that will trap the water before it gets to your injectors.

Baldwin is the best filter hands down. Smallest micro filtering. atleast for a cummins

I own two 7.3's, my Excursion has 500k+ miles and I don't use any additives. :twocents:

I've always used Baldwin oil and fuel filters.
