Mt Spokane South Cow Moose tag

Well the wife drew the Mt Spokane Antlerless moose tag 

Looks like I got my work cut out for me this year with the wife having a antlerless moose tag.  I got a lot of homework to do for this hunt and if anyone has any information they are willing to share, we would be greatly appreciated. 

I already told her she is going to have to learn to shoot my 300 Rem.

I had that permit last year. Hunted about 8 days and only had a glimpse of 1 cow. Saw about 10 bulls though🤷🏻‍♂️  my advise would be to hunt hard right off the bat and try to use the rutting bulls to locate the cows. With any luck you’ll have colder weather this year as well, our temps were way to warm even the deer weren’t moving. Oh yeah and look up Inland empire paper company, their land gives you the most access for this hunt! Let me know if you have any other questions! Hope this help🤘🏻

I had the bull tag last year. Definitely get an IEP permit. Out of the probably 6-7 moose we saw taken, mine was the only one off road and hiked in after. Point being, the guys that spent the most time driving, seemed to see the most animals. The biggest bull we saw taken, was shot in the middle of the road  .

Also Moose aren’t hard to kill and you can typically get more than one shot into them so if the wife isn’t comfortable with the 300 let her use what she is comfortable with.

Probably 90 percent of them are killed from the road.  It’s pretty easy to tell where they are at feeding.  If you are early , keep an eye out for that activity.   The warmer it is, the later and earlier they’ll be moving.

It's a fun hunt enjoy it and try not to get discouraged 1 of my kids got there's within the first 5 minutes of  the season the other 2 were trip 3 and 5 before they got it done.  All were spotted from road but require stalks to get into shooting position all 1 Shot kills with a .270 if she's comfortable with the bigger caliber great if not it can be done with smaller for sure best advice get access to atvs if you don't already have them season gets really good towards mid November but if we don't get a freeze and alot if rain gates are closed to full size rigs and it can be a long walk luckily inwas able to borrow tags the year roads were closed its actually alot better hunt when they cut vehicle traffic good luck

She is currently loaded with 110 grains (deer), i can bump up to 130 grains, (about 2300 fps)

When my dad had a Mica Peak moose tag we stayed at the Spokane Valley KOA. There were people also staying there who had Mt Spokane tags. It worked out pretty well. We had an RV and a cabin for the five of us.

My thought exactly 

Gonna have her shoot the 300 with 150 grain, and see how she does. If that a bit much I think about loading some 130 grain load for her to try. If all else fails, she can shoot one of our .270's..... lol
