Just spent 4 days in the unit and the problem is guys pulling up to every landing, slamming their doors and then bugling!!! If they don’t get an immediate response they get in slam the door and take off??? The bulls aren’t dumb, I had better luck getting off the road and calling and I found that the bulls wouldn’t respond to me until after the 2nd or 3rd bugle. Guess they were waiting to see if I was going to get in a rig and slam the door? 😂

It’s not really quiet they are just smart, don’t over call and you will get an answer

True, we can’t get far off the road unfortunately, played a bull today but had to take my dad to the hospital, something was really wrong.  We are here still and good news no stroke and clear chest.  He has some kind of infection and they want him to stay, not sure how this hunt will continue.  Hopefully back at it soon

I was up there as well and it was very quiet altogether. Heard 1 bugle and he had cows so he was off and away. Hit multiple areas away from the roads and light calling. Sat around just in case a creeper bull snuck in and nothing. Hit it from sun up to sun down, unusually quiet for this time of year.

Prayers sent, J. Hoping everything turns out fine.  Suddenly an elk tag isn’t really that important.

Had a couple going good today, but again, the wind got us.  Very soon after that had to take my dad in.  Of course my cousin who’s with us on the hunt saw a 5 point for 7 minutes at 70 yards, just standing there!
