Forgot to switch out youth archery tag
« on: September 04, 2018, 07:35:03 PM »
So I forgot to switch out my 12 year olds archery tag for a modern tag before the September 1 deadline. Yes, I’m an idiot. Anybody have experience  with getting wdfw to switch out a tag after the deadline? Wondering how much of a stickler they are on it - assume they are stringent with it. Planning on calling tomorrow but curious what you guys know.

I will be curious as to the answer. My hunch is the answer is sorry, no can do. They may empathize but at so some point what is done is locked in. Worst they do is say no right.

I doubt they will switch out a tag after the season is open, I would hope they wouldn’t anyhow.

Edit to add... not that I think you don’t deserve to have it changed but I think it could set a bad precedent.  :twocents:

They will switch out tags for ya on 2 conditions
1.  You didnt apply for any special permits
2.  You do it before the season starts for your weapon of choice. Ex. If you had a muzzy tag and didnt put in for any special permits and the season is a week away and something happened and you know you wont be able to hunt at all during the season so you wanna switch to modern. You would be able to exchange the your muzzy tag for a modern tag

Well, they didn’t switch it out. Didn’t figure they would and understand why they wouldn’t. Lesson learned.

did you happen to put him in for the Multi-season permit? (even points option...) if so then it will cost a bit but go buy the multi-season tag/permit (you will have to surrender the archery tag at the time of purchase)...

Might be wrong, but don't think the points only option will allow purchase of any leftovers, I believe it is for those who applied but didn't draw first time around.
