Don't know where you are, but 39 during rifle... not worth it to me anymore.

39 is the most heavily hunted unit of not only ID but any western state for that matter.
beat me to it lol.  If you aren't going off toad/trail in 39 or 43 you are gonna be really disappointed  :chuckle:

i would vote Maine, BUT, northern Maine bucks are few, they get large, back country, long season, timber lands public access north of Moosehead Lake. Not uncommon to get 300# plus field dressed bucks there.

one of the things I hated about 43, was trying to escape the wheeler roads.   seems like one on every ridge.

I got into New York state last night at midnight. I will be going to a semi local.gun shop in a couple of hours to pick a few things up then to Walmart to get a hunting license and maybe a doe tag. Tomorrow morning I will be out before daylight at the spot I will be set up at waiting for 7am to arrive.
They had around eight inches of snow yesterday.

Where in Upstate NY?  I have hunted with Family outside of Syracuse (little town called Fabius) and it's been productive.  Lots of deer.
