Hunting with daughter.
« on: October 19, 2018, 11:45:18 AM »
Looking for a place to take my daughter on the West side to hunt for her first deer. Just got home from my Eastern Wa. trip and its time to focus on my new hunter. Just looking for a
little info, forest rd. to take off a hwy or something like that so I can get her close  to some action. I am willing to swap info if you're looking for a good hunt on the east side, I can definitely put you into some deer. anything is appreciated, thank you.

drove around darrington/oso area all morning and couldn't find much but not too familiar with the area either. within 2hrs drive of Marysville I guess. a little more if it was worth the drive.

I'd head back to the east side. Blacktails are tough. Best hunting is in the worst weather. Not much fun for a young kid.

Unless you can do an island hunt. @lokidog

Mazama, its like 2.5 hrs from marysville, especially if you leave early am, I could get there in under 2 when i lived in marysville, roughly following the speed limit.
She can see more country than over here, better chance of actually seeing deer.
But the season ends sunday, after that and staying on the westside i got nothing....
Good luck

Eastside is open until Tuesday the 23rd in most units, some are even open until Friday the 26th.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

I could point you to a few places around 1 hour or less from Marysville but blacktail hunting is pretty tough and the weather needs to be totally crappy to see them running around. But in case you decide to give a try, just so she can be out in the nature, feel free to PM me.

You're probably already out there doin' it, but it seems to me that four hours to your spot on the E. side seems better odds than multiple frustrating trips to unknown areas on the W. side.  Enjoy your time together!  Good luck!
