Checking rifle sights before deer opener
« on: October 12, 2018, 08:56:54 AM »
I live in Pullman and can’t find any public land to shoot on to make sure my rifle is perfect for the season opener. I know there’s a range in Lewiston but it says I will need special accommodations to shoot a centerfire rifle which I think is weird. People have told me Moscow mountain but from what I have seen online you’re not allowed to shoot there anymore. Anybody know of a good place to sight in? I have looked down in asotin which has an asotin wildlife area with lots of land. Anybody know if it’s legal to target shoot in the asotin wildlife area?

Unfortunately I don't know anything about your area.  I've always had good luck walking into the district ranger station and asking them where to shoot.  If you have an office near you, you might try that  :dunno:

At least it gives you solid ground to stand on if anyone comes questioning your activity at the spot they tell you about.

There is a nice little 200 yard range maintained by wdfw up asotin creek, right where the south fork road cuts off.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

Tons of US Corps land along the river.  Near where all the college kids party.  Not too far of a drive.

A stop sign out in the country on a county road usually seems to be popular.
