I am a disabled veteran so next year I知 probably going to hunt idaho for deer or elk. With my disability rating I pay resident fees for tags. Just got my rating in August. I致e hunted black tail almost my entire life. Wanted to try a  mule deer hunt before I cant hunt any more.I hunt modern. Just wondering what would be a good place to start to research. Thanks

Check out the hunt planner on Montana website. Good info there

I'm a disabled vet also, and can give you info on 2 exceptional hunting opportunities.  First is the Idaho Disabled Veteran Special Permit.  This is a OIL permit where you pick the species and unit you want to hunt and if selected, you get a free permit. Not discounted, free.  I pulled a moose permit this year and will be heading out in 2 weeks.  The second opportunity is Wyoming Disabled Hunters. This is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing hunting opportunities to disabled people, with a separate category for disabled vets .  I just go back from a cow elk hunt on a private ranch where I took a nice cow.  All you have to do is get there; they provide housing, food, guides, tags, and any special equipment you may require.  Feel free to PM me for any additional info.

Neither MT or WY gives non-resident VETs (disabled or not) tag price discounts as far as I know.

This is correct.  The hunt I referenced above in Wyoming makes use of donated landowner permits.    http://www.wyomingdisabledhunters.org/

Idaho gives non resident DAV a huge discount. Could be cheaper to hunt in Idaho rather than Washington.

I am involved with MONTANA WARRIORS ON THE WATER, (MWOTW) here in Montana. We hold events during the year for our veterans including a cow elk hunt held in Big Timber , MT in early December. Montana does offer to Purple Heart recipients licenses for hunting and fishing donated by individuals back to the state of Montana. These licenses are awarded to individuals working with a approved group like MWOTW. Other wise you can apply for a cow tag here in Montana by June 1st every year. MWOTW has a nice facebook page that tells about us and events and how to apply for these events. Feel free to PM any questions....Thank you for your service, May God bless you and your family.
