holy chit! those little m'effers are responible for more sage and rocks kicked by myself in anger than any other bird out there, including grouse.... good game duck, that's impressive.

Sweet!  Haven't shot a mess of chukars like that for years.  Used to hunt Hells Canyon alot..... very crowded now.  Bird numbers seem to fluctuate wildly too.

Fun wouldn't be the word I'd choose to describe it.  :chuckle: In most places you really gotta bust your butt to get em... they generally inhabit the steepest, rockiest, hardest walking terrain around.  Very tough on you and the dogs.  But they are challenging and when ya get in em you can really get em.  Good eatin too!

That's an understatement. My brothers flew out 2 years ago and I took them out to hunt em. They were convinced they eat rocket fuel, not cheetgrass. They both swear the majority of chukar die of old age ;) It is a really fun bird to hunt if you don't mind hiking it up and down slopes and ankle twisting rocks. I avsolutley love huntin the little turds. Nice pictures!

I just moved out to e.wash a few months ago(from MN), took my lab out today for the first time to try and scare up a rooster or two, she flushed 2 chukars the first 10 mikes we were out, I tried drawing a bead on them, it ended in me laughing and my lab looking at me like, "you suckey arse shot"!! :o  Well I redeemed myself a bit, she flushed a rooster a bit later and I scored a direct hit :IBCOOL:     When she brought the rooster back to me, I swear she had a sarcastic look on her mug :P
