Idaho has had the same amount of tags and hunting pressure for the last several years. Tags sales dropped off when the elk populations dropped due to wolves, things are slowly rebounding.

A lotta Idaho hunters on side-by-sides this year. Kinda of a new sport cross between road hunting and recreational atv riding.

Discussions on the internet sure have brought a lot of additional pressure on Idaho the past five years. Shame as used to be an enjoyable experience hunting there without a ton of out of state pressure. I see Montana and Colorado , WY, E Oregon are experiencing the same with all the hunting shows and hunting related social media .
Pimping out these states.


I imagine it will soon go to draw only soon. I guess enjoy while you can.

2018 is the first year Idaho sold out of elk tags since 2008

Colorado is seeing a lot more non res elk and deer applications too

So it appears pressure is increasing

Let's not forget about the youtube elk channels that are funded by yeti, RMEF, rockey mountain elk calls, Phelps, BRO, HUSH, ELK101

Mountains are seeing a surge of the mtn ops sitka flat bill crowd. 

Hunter numbers are DROPPING if the industry is trying to kick start some new blood into our sport that's not a bad thing, just annoying at times!

It is a dificult thing to explain to people.  As a person who was born and raised in Naches, Washington we tend to move to other places and then blend in with our new location and then quickly identify as something new and different.  I live 30 minutes outside Sacramento and I now identify as a non-ethical Californian who invades other states with my unlimited supply of coin!

For Idaho Res tags it states in fine print that for your tag to be valid you must have/use an ATV or UTV while in the pursuit of game.

Tags are capped in almost every state.  CO elk is one of the few that isn't.

Probably blend in just fine with the people of Sun Valley, Hailey or Bellevue.
