Anybody got there bow tuned in a hooter shooter?

I agree with Button Nubbs, I want my bow as tuned as possible to perfection and then I can work on my form to try to achieve the perfect shot.  I don't really want it tuned to my faulty form.  Ideally you would want an Olympic shooter to shoot for your tuning and then work to achieve their perfection.     I wasn't saying above that this tuning unit is best, I actually went because I heard so much great things about the shop. It was neat to go see it & I had the best customer service / results from my bow I have ever had. Mike

I have seen home made hooter shooters on the web as well.  Does not seem to difficult to build.

Wayne Endicott owner of The Bow Rack in Springfield is first rate.  If you have the opportuity to have him work on it I'd do it. Even I take my guns to another more experienced gunsmith once in a while.  Nice to do it yourself, but I guarantee he will do it right.  He's an anal retentive SOB and takes a lot of pride in what he does.

We too have a Hooter Shooter here that we use quite a bit to trouble shoot and test with.  It's a good machine even if it is made by SH.  If you ever wanted to know if its you, the bow or your arrows the HootShoot will tell you in quick order.

You tune for torque by making fine adjustments to the rest.  You don't think  that you will release the arrow the same as I do? You ever shot a bow through paper than have someone else fire an arrow with your bow through paper and see a different tear? Granted I'm not a paper fan. Some bows will show a more drastic difference from shooter to shooter than others. 

I had an allegience that was giving me fits.  Took it down to let Rod at wholesale mess with it. We both shot it through paper and got two different tears.  He had me a try a different release and got yet another tear. We held the bow different.  To account for the different amount of torque we applied to the bow.  Adjustments to the rest were necessary. I doubt to many people will be able to release as clean as a machine. But what ever gives you confidence and helps you hit what you are aiming at.

That's funny.  I think she's my future wife.  But seriously folks, I know how to tune my bow, and that is one way of the hundreds that exist.  Just from this post, there are a ton of suggestions.  When you zero your scope on a bench rest, you mechically dial your scope in without much human interference.  Anything else, and you've got breathing, unsteady position, and trigger squeeze to account for.  Same with archery, I take.  Yes, I have the toutle tag this year, and after 5 years with no luck, I want to do whatever is possible to increase my chances before the arrow flies.  It might be an over-achieving thing to do, but so is shooting your bow everyday, but some people swear by it.  From what I read, it'll be $75 well spent.

One other item is when you shoot from your knees or shooting from your knees but bending at your hips you put torque on your wrist thus messing with your accuracy.

This is a good topic!!! I have a huntin partner that started bow huntin later in life and I have watched him go throug the huge curve of bow shooting. If you start out at a young age and develope the skills needed you will likely be a good bow shot.Bow tuning is simple and easy.The problem I see is people relliy on somebody else to make them feel good about there equipment and they head into the woods and wound animals. This is what my partner has done. I try to help as much as I can but some people have to figure it out themselves instead of just listening and keeping it simple stupid (kiss). You can have the most tricked out system and still not succed. That was a lot of two cents!!!!

If you can spare the coin and it makes you feel better. Than ya should do it. The one thing that guys like Wayne will be able do for you is get the most performance out of your bow. Im betting you may still have to make a fine adjustment when you bh tune but you may not. Curious how it pans out for ya.

if your tuning for torque you should be adressing form flaws. so my bow is tuned in a hooter shooter yet my bh and fp's have the same poi. if the rest was "tuned" to compensate for torque i doubt that would be the case. agree to disagree on this one, just like you said whatever makes you feel better about it.
