If Benchmark will true the action, chamber and install a new barrel for $850 out the door plus tax, that's a pretty good deal and I'm not sure you'll be able to get it done any cheaper.Remington triggers aren't that bad and can safely be tuned to around 2.5lbs, maybe a little less, with no creep and they're plenty good for a hunting rifle. If you're wanting to do some precision long range work then a aftermarket trigger can benefit you but for a hunting rifle or even one you shoot from a bench out to 600 yards or so I'm not sure it's necessary to spend the money on a $200+ trigger when a $50 trigger job will work just as well for you. I probably sound a little hypocritical on triggers considering I have aftermarket triggers in all of my guns except 2 or 3, but it's only because I've kind of spoiled/ruined myself by using those triggers and you develop a certain feel for them. The tuned Rem 700 triggers I have are pretty dam close though and are more than adequate for a hunting rifle.I'm not exactly sure what come of those SPS youth models for a stock but if it's one of those plastic things, I don't know that I spend any amount of money messing with it trying to make it better. Find yourself a HS Prec or B&C take off stock, they're a much better stock and worth spending the money to have them bed. The LOP may be a little long but any decent smith can shorten it up for you and put a new pad on. I had the HS Prec. stock on my daughters 6.5-284 shortened up a couple years ago and it worked out well. If you budget yourself for around $1500 max, including putting a different stock on it and having it properly bed, you'll end up with a really nice semi custom 6.5 Creed that'll shoot a variety of bullets really well and she'll be proud to throw it over her shoulder for many years to come. If it was me, this is what I'd be doing with it.
I am in the process right now. Sent my barreled action to benchmark barrels a month ago. They will true the action and install another barrel for around $850. From there the little things start to add quickly, new trigger, picatinny rail, cerakote, muzzle brake, stock. So you should figure out how much you are willing to spend and decide from there. You might not gain much of anything from just installing a new barrel.
