I’m like everyone else who has points. If there’s no chance of getting drawn then why put in. Some have a better chance than me and some don’t.theres people that have got drawn with less points. If you don’t put in you don’t get drawn. Just ask the people who have got drawn with less points

My daughter has 14 quality points. I  started her out when she passed hunters safety and she's 25..... so you're saying there's a chance she'll draw while I'm still alive?? I've put her in every year, luck just ain't happening yet. At least she got to shoot a cow.

Hell at this point based off the info in these forums I'm wondering if I'll dry while I'm still alive! There should be a make a wish foundation for old unsuccessful hunters.

You can find out how many folks in Wa have 16 points for elk on the WDFW website. Last time I looked at points and point holders I about sharted. 16 is good but you could still be a decade+ out.

Well that's that, time to give up hunting and take up something more productive, like a heroin addiction.

Don’t forget that because the number or people drawn is much less than the number new applicants each year that your odds typically go Down not up each year.   For an area with 60-100 tags you have a chance over next ten years.  For SE WA its the lottery :-)

It is possible to do pretty well on elk in Washington with over the counter tags. If you want a 360 bull you're better looking out of state. Apply in Washington but don't count on getting drawn for the very best permits more than maybe once or twice in a lifetime.

Don’t give up. I’ve drawn some of the hardest units in the state. First with 3 points, 2 with 9. My dad drew with 4 points and knocked down a complete masher 373bc

That’s exactly what I’m talking about. I have points in WA , MT , WY and UT. I’ve been drawn for 2 hunts so fare. In all states I have put in for I put in for the best units. The pic on my post is my best elk so far. It was in WY back in 2012. I did not have max points but got drawn. He grossed 384+ BC. I probably won’t get anything like that again. I definitely won’t if I don’t put in

Just so I understand: Does that mean you've been putting in for 21 years?
