I just picked up a set of vortex crossfire in 10 x 42 today
I didn’t want to spend a fortune either
I compared them with similarly priced Nikon and Leupold at Sportsmens warehouse they were absolutely clear and sharp, nice sized, great quality and lifetime warranty  for $150

The Cabelas Euro models are worth a look. You can find some good deals on them in the Bargain Cave sometimes. They're re-branded Meoptas, so you can look at reviews for the Meopta binos to get an idea on quality and performance.

A definition of breaking the bank would aid in recommendations.  The bank could be $200 or it could be $1,500

I picked up a set of Sig Sauer binoculars last summer and have been very pleased with them for the price I paid. Give them a look for a lower priced option.

I’m all for buying quality optics, but the average hunter won’t benefit from buying a pair of Swaro binos. I have a Swaro spotter because it’s a necessary tool for my LR shooting; a pair of high dollar binos wouldn’t make any difference in my hunting though.
