Coyote Hunting Kittitas County
« on: January 25, 2019, 04:12:30 PM »
I was living in Northern Nevada for a long time, and I really got into Coyote & Jack rabbit hunting. Now I moved back to Washington about 6 years ago, and haven't done any hunting at all do to a back injury that disabled me 5 years ago at the end of this month. I know Jack rabbits are a NO GO here in Washington, but I would like to find some places that are easy for me to go to, as my back injury doesn't allow for me to walk far "maybe 100 yds" before my leg goes numb. I do have a sxs so I can get into some remote areas. So I'm looking for suggestions around the Ellensburg area.

Too many to list, pick a road north or south and go. You will find it is not hard to find good country even with your disabilities.

You've got lots of options with your ATV. Just try to stick to the WDFW (Washington Dept. of Fish & Wildlife) lands, because the ATV won't be legal on much of the National Forest. You're in a great location, being in Ellensburg.

Some of the WDFW wildlife areas:

L.T. Murray
Wenas
Quilomene
Colockum

A couple of links to get you started:

calving season, find a local producer, learn to do a cow check.  The little dogs are always close by.  Might even find a wolf in the act!!!!

The USFS people are pretty good about not hassling SxS here. The only time that I have even been bothered is when a Game warden stopped me for not wearing my seat belt. He checked my on-road reg. and I gave him a letter from my Dr. that I can't wear a seat belt, and said be safe.
