First Coyote with Lucky Duck Rebel
« on: February 02, 2019, 07:10:13 PM »
I got this new call a couple months ago, a Lucky Duck Rebel. It's their lowest priced model at $120, and only has 12 sounds, but it sounds great and is extremely loud. Not that you need lots of volume very often, and today it certainly wasn't needed. My daughter and I walked a half mile behind a gate and set up on a spur road in the reprod. Only 3 minutes with the "cottontail 1" sound going at low volume and this coyote came running right in. Stopped at about 80 yards facing me and the .270 bullet hit him right in the throat. Luckily I had my 11 year old daughter with me to take the picture. I'm thinking I'll have to hunt the reprod more from now on. I usually have been setting up in clearcuts.

Too bad dna testing is still a little pricey, looks a lot like some of the coy/dogs I have seen in Oklahoma, good job!!!

Awesome job! Using the 270 will sure pay off come deer season, i’m having my girlfriend use her 7-08 for coyotes as practice for deer haha. Awesome you had the kid too!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Yeah I have a 223 WSSM I'd like to use sometime too, but last summer swapping scopes around on some of my different rifles, that one ended up without a scope, and I haven't got around to getting one back on it yet. The 270 I know is sighted in good from last deer season so it's the one I've been grabbing out of the safe lately when I go for predators. Actually have been hoping for a cougar but no luck so far.

Went out with ruttnbuck today and this time his Foxpro got this one in to about 25 yards and I took it with my shotgun.

Thanks.  I've been using adult cottontail and it's been slow.  Will stick with it.
