First bobcat
« on: March 10, 2019, 08:19:44 PM »
Was able to get out in the woods Saturday abd walked behind a closed gate.  I did a couple setups after the first mile back in there with no success.  Walked a couple more miles to where a clear cut was at and followed the road to the back of the cut and the was a spur road off too the left which was only couple hundred yards long.  They're was thick reprod on both sides and about mid day down the road they're was a well used game trail so I figured whatever was in there might come out their.  I set up my Ecaller on far side of road opposite of game trail hoping that if a cat came out it would completely come out too the call.  I set back about 30 yrds and started with the lil  cottontail sound for 5 min and just had feeling something was going to appear.  I changed to cagey cotton tail at about at the 5 min mark abd after 20 or 30 sec the bobcat just zipped out of the reprod too within 4ft of call and stared at it. It happened so fast I forgot to take it off safety and he was still staring at the call . I lost him in the scope and got safety off and after what seemed like forever it probably was only like 5 sec I finally got the shot off and he dropped.  I was pretty excited to say the least to get my first.  Gonna have a rug mount done out of him.
