So I was reading through one of the turkey threads here, I can't remember which, and one of you guys mentioned $5 Idaho tags. After savoring the elation of tagging out for the first time in my life last fall I experienced something completely new. With time still left in the season I could no longer legally hunt turkey. They wouldn't sell me more tags. Done. Finished. Normally around December I'm still sulking about not having shot any turkey. So there I was, not believing my eyes, $5 tags. Surely the small game licenses is prohibitively expensive for a Washington boy like me. Sure enough the full season small game for non-residents is $97.75. Not sure about that .75 cent thing. Now comes the moment of truth. 3 day small game . . . pause for effect, $35.50. I reached out to IDFW and confirmed to hunt turkey in special unit GMUs 1, 2, 3, and 5 all you need is a small game and a $5 special unit tag. And you can buy three tags each fall. And all of those units are in the Northern part of Idaho bordering Washington. I hear tell the panhandle is fair teeming with turkey. Anybody else been to the land of milk and honey and feel like sharing the experience? I come from the westside where turkey hunting requires a days drive. I'm sure the eastsider's probably been eating Idaho turkey for years.
