All-
Back in 2015 after the really bad fire season and the devastation in the Methow, the forum membership came together and raised a little shy of $4000 to give back to the Methow. For multiple reasons, nothing ever got done with the money until now. I got an email the other day from some folks with the Mule Deer Foundation with a plan for the money. Dale, @bearpaw , is sending the check to them and they'll be using the money for the Golden Doe restoration project in the Methow Wildlife Area.
Just figured I'd share since so many shared a whole lot of generosity raising money and volunteering their time for our mule deer.

For those of you newer to the forum or not familiar with the fundraiser stuff and volunteer stuff, if you go to the main forum page, input "MDF auction" into the search box, you'll see a giant list of the auction threads from February 2015 if I remember correctly.

A thread with a bunch of info about the fires that summer.

These pics were forwarded to me from the MDF folks in the Okanogan to share.

That's cool they are going to fix the area. Checked it out last year. Saw 3 coyotes in that area. Also ran into a couple of people walking their dogs in the area.

I've already received a refund of my money from Dale.  3+ years passed with nothing done and basically no communication of anything getting done by the MDF was all I could wait.

Really curious as to why they chose to spend this money on restoring a piece that wasn't even burnt in the fire?

Maybe e mail the MDF and ask them why they chose to spend it there.  :dunno:

Not really into hearing some bullchit reason I wouldn't agree with anyhow. It's too bad, we couldn't have gotten some bitterbrush planted that next spring like was planned, because there were several generous people who went to bad including jackelope and Dale by heading the project.

Thank you for sharing, I’m glad to see something being done regardless, and I still drink from one of my MDF glasses from time to time 👍

So after looking at the WSDOT north cascades newsletter I am signed up for. I see that they went in and did an accessment they found the snow pack at Rainy and Washington passes at 6 ft. 4 ft lower than last year at this time. Are we in for a low water levels, high fire again year?

Supposedly Okanogan county is still listed as a drought area.  at 60% i think I saw.  Most of the rest of the state got up to the 90th percentile or above for snowpack.    Wed have been in big trouble if February hadn't done what it did as much as we all didn't appreciate it or the harm it might have done.

Figured I'd follow up with the latest news from the Mule Deer Foundation folks in the Methow. Dale and I got this email the other day. I would have posted sooner but I was on vacation basking in the AZ sunshine.

Quote
We are getting rolling on putting the donated funds to work on the Golden Doe Wildlife area in the Methow.   While there are various aspects of this project we will be putting your dollars donated to work buying various native grass, forb and shrub seed, plugs, and plants, including Bitterbrush where appropriate.  Some fencing for protection will be used on some of the live plantings as well.  Our MDF chapters first volunteer day on this project is scheduled for April 27th.  In addition Back Country Hunters & Anglers will be removing several miles of derelict fence that our chapter may also help on.  Finally WDFW is planning an informational Kiosk at some point.

Just keeping all  you folks in the loop.
