Crawfish
« on: March 29, 2019, 07:03:37 AM »
Anyone ever tried throwing some crawfish traps in local streams and ponds around puyallup. Im thinking about buying a few traps and giving it a shot. Im a little worried about thieves stealing my pots but I figure theyre only 10$. So not a big loss.

I tried it in Redmond with no luck. Give it a try and post some pictures. Maybe it will get me to try again.

Opens in May, much better fishing as the water warms up in the summer.

Most small creeks around us carry them iv caught them in about every body of water with Rocky bottoms between me and you not big in size or numbers but they are there. My best luck is with chicken the last few years swing over to the fishing side of the forum and we do a annual crawfish competition it's stickied at the top of the page  :hello:

Thanks for the advice. I checked that thread in the fishing section out. Im going to buy a few traps and try them on clarks creek right here in town maybe. Do river that are fairly fast moving such as the puyallup or carbon contain any crawfish, or do they mainly prefer slower moving streams, lakes, sloughs?

Iv caught them in both the carbon and the Puyallup my best luck is at the trail end of an Eddy where the slack water starts to pick up speed the slow spot corals food in front of them just like salmon fishing but I prefer the small creeks less traffic and people messing with your gear. South prarie Lynch kapowsin ohop creeks all work good for me been wanting to get down and try the nisqualy as well maybe this year I'll try it
