Spring Turkey 2019
« on: April 10, 2019, 08:41:01 AM »
It's far too quiet on this board considering opener is less than a week away. Everyone sound off with your spring hunting plans.

I will be hunting Easterns from the 17th to the 20th, then Merriam's and Rio Grande's the 21st to the 1st of May. I'm so stoked!

I'm headed for Merriam's from the 22nd to the 25th of April, and then again in May if time/tags allow. This is my first hunting experience so I'm stoked.

Missed Youth Weekend with Little Pathfinder because I was in Utah with the High School ROTC Rifle Team that I coach, but we're gearing up for Monday.  Trying to get a spot lined up, as the farm we hunted last year sold.  I just placed a phone call though.  Fingers crossed...

Was going to hunt for easterns the first part but didn't get landowner permission. Looks like I'll be in colville the 19th and 20th of April, and hunt central wa birds if we don't get our birds in colville.

Bringing out an active Navy from the Nimitz the 20th.  The following weekend going to be in Spokane for their NWTF banquet the 28th.  Scout a property out on the 27th for the next weekend.  Next weekend is the state NWTF womens and kids event have a full day of teaching them about hunting and Sunday have mentor hunters take them out to get some birds.  I have a terminally ill 13 year old I am taking out Saturday that same weekend from Ohio.  He is going for a double grand slam.  Has his 2 Osceola's that I know of.  The next 2 weekends might be able to get out with my wife and give a few birds dirt naps.  Last weekend of the season taking out another active duty Navy and his dad out.  So not much going on   :chuckle:

I'm going to continue the scout for the Eastern this weekend but head over to the NE Sunday afternoon to take a buddy out for his first bird. So, 15th/16th Merriams... might poke around Lincoln for a "Rio". Then the 17th - 21st will be Eastern or Rio... gonna play the weather a little bit. Rain keeps shifting around on the Westside there. Gotta check up on my dog at school the weekend of the 27th. Got clearance from the S.O. to take a 4 day weekend... will clean up my slam that weekend if not completed already. Have my eye on some hunts in OR, ID, or BC should time allow.

4 days, 18 hours, 50 min until Eastside Opener Shooting light ... but who is counting :dunno:

Decided to skip the opener and extend my season. Spending a week hunting NE Oregon end of April, then heading to NE WA to see how many birds I can't find, then maybe east to ID.

I'll shoot a few in May over here in Idaho. Will give me something to do.

P.S. Don't bother asking where I hunt unless I've chatted with you a bunch in the past.

I’ve found too many talkative toms in spots I’ve never seen turkeys so I dunno what my plans are. Get off work at 5, whichever spot I’m closest to I’ll drive up to and see if I can get a kill with these magnus bullheads!
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

I'm getting tired of pm's asking for handouts.

Maybe scroll on if you don't like what I post. Here's a hint, put me on the ignore list. Would of taken less effort for you to do that then decide to comment.
