Manslaughter for killing a coyote
« on: April 15, 2019, 05:20:14 AM »
There’s a new bill up in Nevada.   Equate mandatory jail time if you shoot a coyote.   Carries the same sentence as manslaughter.
I’m out the door but will try to post the link later.

Same ideology that thinks that we jail too many people apparently has a change of heart here.  I'm surprised WA isn't in on this, coyotes must not be on the cool animal list.

Holy crap you guys blow this way outta proportion.  It’s for hunting contests for coyots, you will not get charged for just killing a coyot!  Instead of whining about this right off the bat, read the article.  Don’t get me wrong it’s stupid, but don’t say you could get charged with slaughter for just killing a coyot.
I provide a service to cattle ranchers year around that have problem coyotes.  I also provide guided night hunts year around. I sell Night Vision and Thermal optics. The scopes I use are the NVision Halo XRF and Pulsar Merger XL50 LRF HD Binoculars

It's a ridiculous penalty for coyote contests, too. I believe this bill will die by a large margin. Anyone can introduce a bill, as we know from the Green New Deal. Whether or not it stands or falls is another story altogether. There are a lot of wingnuts in office out there who don't have the support of their colleagues.

I assume so.   They seem to sneak one through once in awhile.   As this is Nevada, no big deal Im sure, but it shows their effort at doing legislation like this in a whole pile of states this year.

They are adding an amendment now to the bill stating that if you step on any ants or kill a spider it adds an extra mandatory sentence of 180 days per occurrence. Can not be served concurrently.

He's right, you have to pay an entry fee, so the fact that you shot it is fine but paying $10 before hand will turn you into a felon.

I suppose the salmon derby will be in the crosshairs someday unless they figure out a way to do away with fishing altogether.
