going May 2 from Westport
Quote from: WSU on April 25, 2019, 08:02:55 AMgoing May 2 from WestportHow do you do out of Westport? I’ve fished Neah Bay for many years and we always get our fish, but getting tired of the tribe screwing all the fishermen. Every year I say it’s my last up there. I’ve heard Westport is a bait fishery. Is that true? We kill with artificial out of Neah Bay.
Sounds like fun. I've been trying to get out for halibut for years, but something always comes up. Planned on the 5th, but the water was bad, and I guess it's not looking good on Thursday for the same reason. Just curious, what is considered being too rough to fish? Is it a personal opinion, depends on the size boat you have, or something else?

If I can keep my lines pretty vertical it is fishable. In 500 ft of water this can take a lot of backtrolling to make this happen, but you can fish in pretty nasty seas, it just takes a lot of the fun out of it.
BC was good to us for a second year in a row. We did not get much in the way of bonus fish like lingcod/rockfish but the hali fishing was pretty good. One highlight was having some fresh halibut and crab we brought in cooked and served to us in the marina cafe/bar while we sat and watched the sunset. How is everyone else doing? I heard the inside waters have been slow at best...
