Huckleberry Spring bear
« on: May 02, 2019, 11:36:26 AM »
I'm heading out to look for bear tomorrow. I'm probably gonna start up West of Colville. Has anyone been seeing bears out and about? How is the snow and how's the green up going?

I wasn't in 121, but I had a bear show up on my camera last Saturday out in 111. There wasn't anymore snow left where I was at, which is at 3800'.

I was across the highway. Spotted my first spring bear yesterday. They are starting to move.

How big was he?

I was off hunter Springdale road last weekend and no snow with lots of green compared to last year when I had a spring bear tag.  We did stop and talk to a group that said they saw 1 bear and they had been up there for 2 weeks chasing turkeys.

Average sized bear. Too late in the day to make a move or I probably would have made a move to try and kill it.

My son and I spent 2 days hunting north of Colville this week.  Saw a moose at 60yards, no sign of bear at all.  It seems dry and the green-up is only at lower elevations.  Froze at night.
Ticks are definitely out.  Heading back later this month.

Same for me as everyone else - have been out several times, including Saturday all day. No snow, green is coming up well, but haven't seen a single piece of sign in my good areas. Thinking they've just been hitting the snooze button this spring. I HAVE seen a LOT more ungulates than in the past, spotting both elk, moose, and deer almost every day. Pretty stoked I haven't seen ANY wolf sign around Springdale Hunters, like I have in the past. Wonder if the fire pushed them out of the area.

I'm heading out Friday after work for memorial weekend I've seen moose and elk on my last trips. Hope to see bear this time around. Should I focus up high or down low?
