Rimfire vs ar scope w parallax
« on: May 09, 2019, 09:13:11 PM »
So I’ve been looking for a scope for my 22 to hunt grouse this summer and have a 3x12x40 Bushnell (bdc type) I got for my AR15 5.56. It has parallax adjustment 10 yds to infinity. I was looking at getting a vortex crossfire 2 bdc but it’s parallax is set at 100 yards. If I’m lucky I’ll be shooting grouse at 25-50 yds. The only change would be the distances on the “ticks” of the retical right? With being able to adjust parallax can I zero at 25yds and just figure out the ticks by shooting ranged distances? I’m thinking the Bushnell will be a better scope for my intended purpose since I can adjust the parallax but I’m still kind of figuring this parallax thing out. Any opinions are appreciated

You don't need the BDCs for that range and they would be at goofy points anyways. So I don't see them helping and a full size scope adds unneeded weight.

I would look into a red dot for grouse even though you give up some range compared to a scope. You might like the faster target acquisition. Needs to be 2MOA min though.

Either that or a fixed 4x.

Over complicating things for that distance. Get a fixed 4x or 6x. Sight it in at 50, call it at day.

Jesus man calm down. Grouse season opens Labor Day weekend, it really wouldn’t be that crazy for somebody to consider that summer

Technically summer ends late September but yea I was a little thrown off too because people normally call that fall.
