Made an anchor on a windy day
« on: May 19, 2019, 12:16:00 PM »
It was supposed to be super windy on the water today so I made a new anchor instead. I have been screwing around with those stupid mushroom anchors long enough, any amount a wind and they just seem to slide. So I welded up some pipe, welded on some 1/4”x2” barbs, filled the sucker with lead and welded it closed. Common river anchor style, only thing I bought was 5’ of chain and some plasti-dip. Had the rest on hand

That will work. Remember to add 10’ or so of someheavy chain. Really helps it set.

I’ll try and use it tomorrow on the snake, I have a hankering for some fishing

I didn’t know such a thing existed, I’ll peel off the plasticity and do that

Galvanizing paint or whatever it is in the spray can works great.  I used it on my DIY crab pot puller and it hasn't rusted yet.

Looks good! I made one a couple years ago but put a pin so I could fold it and store it under a seat, My welds look like chicken poo also but they hold just fine!  :chuckle:
