We are starting to see them show up in the old haunts...I was heading that way to work on the cabin...but never got there..hopefully this week.  Gotta get some thing set up...camp shower, bar, meat pole.  Put the carpet in the cabin, etc...My buddies are out there everyday seeing Toms strutting with hens..still henned up...The landowner was able to get to the cabin yesterday...muddied up the road but said it all made it through winter...We built the cabin because we hate the wind.   Those Spring winds suck.. It is a work in progress but we use it to play cards, eat, stay warm, drink..have fun...Heres a pic..

Yelp...........I see in the second photo you have my "meat poles" laying on the ground in front of the cabin.  Make sure you anchor them really well so they will support the weight of those gobblers I plan on killing.

Yelp, with your highly regarded and widely envied reputation, why the cabin? After you have your 2 turkeys by 8am on the 15th, do you use the cabin to cook them? That cabin looks like a lot of work for 1 hour of hunting.
Do you substitute your hunting budies' shotgun shells with blanks to extend the season? Otherwise you would be headed home by 10am on the 15th.
Would you please clarify your stategy Yelp?
 ;)

Yelp is usually helping someone....friend, farmers son etc., so he is generally around a few days to a week.
If he does finish early he switches to his second springtime passion.....looking for feces encrusted gloves, shirt sleeves, socks, etc.  He has a whole trophy room full of past finds.  You have to use a clothespin over the nose when entering, but what a collection.  Hey some guys hunt for mushrooms....

Yelp hunts for poo..... :hunter: :crap: :crap: :crap: :crap: :crap:

Well I just moved my cabin so Wacenturian can't find it... :chuckle:

This year we will have 10 or 12 hunters in camp...for a week or two...the cabin is on private land..a buddy of ours is a local farmer and we also go out and use it for deer season come fall...We all bring trailers generators and we hunt hard, play hard...If our season starts out sucky we will come back for three day weekends, sick leave whatever until we get our fill...I will get more pics of camp..this is something that we have don for 15 years now.  We started off with elk tents, blue tarps, canvas, framed out camps, and finally we came up with this product...I love it..It is home..it keep us warm and dry when it is nasty spring day...or that belated snow storms....

I think I need to give Wacenturian a warm welcome when he arrives at Camp this Spring... :crap: :puke: :crap:

We will be going to the Teanaway this year and I'll be staying in our 23ft trailer (with heat). Has anyone been down the Teanaway recently? Is 29 pines campground open yet?
